The state-owned telecommunications operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has launched IPTV nationwide in association with Smart Digivision Private Limited (SDPL). BSNL is also targeting over three million IPTV subscribers in 93 cities over the next three years. The service offerings include over 140 TV channels as well as an on-demand movie library at no extra cost.
Meanwhile, Verimatrix, a content security technology solutions provider for pay-TV networks today (17th March) announced that, it is deploying its Verimatrix Video Content Authority System for IPTV networks to protect IPTV services to Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd's (BSNL) customers.
According to Verimatrix VCAS for IPTV has been designed to take advantage of IP-based, bi-directional networks by leveraging mature and proven two-way Internet security protocols. This software-based content security solution features a fully layered content protection strategy and a strong partner ecosystem. One component of that strategy is VideoMark(TM), which can help the operator to trace illicit re-broadcasting and content copying. VCAS for IPTV has been now integrated with SeaChange's middleware and video-on-demand (VOD) server for BSNL's service.
