BSNL Gujarat website gujarat.bsnl.co.in was reportedly hacked by Chinese hackers proving that they continue to wreck havoc in an attempt to gain access to e-mails and communications between officials and foreign mission. The BSNL Gujarat website displayed a message 'HACKED BY Cilgin hacker thanks: m0sted, kerem125, sari_seytan, ercu_145 all terrörist crew!n...,' to prove that the website has been hacked.

 

Though hacking of a websites is not a new phenomenon, what makes this noteworthy is the fact that this particular website is owned by a government firm. Recently other government websites were being hacked into, as well by hackers. Recently the computer networks of the External Affairs Ministry have been under attacks, the source of which is determined to be some Chinese IP addresses. Some IP addresses are also said to have its origin in America and Eastern Europe.

 

The matter is quite serious as hacking of the government's site may result in leaking of sensitive information. Even the websites of the Pentagon, the US defence headquarters had been hacked by Chinese hackers last year. China was also accused of hacking the computer network of Angela Merkel and three other German ministries. However China has clearly denied its involvement in this.
