Punjab's Ludhiana city is likely to get the Internet Protocol Television (ITPV) service of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) by the first week of December. While taking about the launch of the ITPV service, a BSNL official said that the initial launch of the service will be an experimental one. The ITPV service will be launched commercial in Ludhiana after getting the successful feedback, he added. Under the new service, BSNL will offer 120 television channels to its broadband subscribers at a monthly rental of Rs 150. In order to enjoy the ITPV service of BSNL, the subscribers will have to pay a security of Rs 999 for a set top box.
The deputy general manager (administration and marketing) of Bharat Nagar Telephone Exchange, Mohan Lal informed that telecom company has already begun the testing and after getting the results, it will launch the service commercially by January 2009. Although, BSNL claimed to have massive internet subscription across the country, it is yet to access certain regions. A company source informed that BSNL is working hard to reach out to the technically non-feasible areas. After the launch of its new service, BSNL will definitely expand its existing subscriber's base.
