The state-owned telecom giant, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) launched the Interactive Personalized Television & Video Services (IPTV) throughout the country on Wednesday (December 31). BSNL has introduced the new service in association with Smart Digivision Pvt Ltd. The new IPTV services will offer 140 channels in addition to free access to the movie libraries from Hollywood and Bollywood.

 

While commenting on the new services, BSNL stated that IPTV services will reinvent home television entertainment by offering the customers to watch according to their wishes. The subscribers of IPTV services will also get video, music, games and education on demand. IPTV system uses broadband internet connection to deliver digital content to the subscribers.

 

The two companies will intensify their tie-ups in future to offer services like option to pause live TV, personalized stock ticker, digital instant and scheduled recording. Besides BSNL, Smart Digivision Pvt Ltd and Smart Broadband Services Pvt Ltd, has entered into long term contracts with MTNL for providing co-branded interactive video services to their customers in 54 large cities across India.
