Even while the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee was amidst his budget presentation, the key index of the Indian equities markets dipped by 512 points from its last closing figure.
Around 12.25 p.m., the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) index that had opened at 14,962.12 points, was ruling at 14,400.54 points which was 512.51 points or 3.44% lesser than Friday's close.
Similarly, the S&P CNX Nifty of the NSE was ruling 4.19% down at 4,239 points.
Broader market indices turned red, with the BSE midcap index trading 1.89% lower, while the BSE smallcap index was down 1.49%.
