BSA Motors has unveiled five electric scooter models in New Delhi on Tuesday. BSA Motors is an arm of Tube Investments, which is based in Chennai.
The scooters, which flaunts engine capacities between 250 watts and 800 watts, will be available within the ex-showroom price range of Rs.19,450 and Rs.27,200 in New Delhi.
L Ramkumar, the managing director of Tube Investments, who was addressing the media after he unveiled the models in Delhi, mentioned that "The electric scooter market is currently a Rs.400-crore market in India and the industry is expected to double in a year's time”.
BSA Motors had launched electric scooters earlier this year in the southern markets.
"The initial market response for our product has been positive in the southern region and by the extending sales and services network into Delhi we hope to grow rapidly," Ramkumar added.
The Chennai plant of the firm currently has the potential for rolling out 150 units a day, but he added that the capacity of the firm can be boosted to 300 units daily.
BSA Motors also announced an exclusive festive offer, Lucky Oye Lucky, for its Delhi customers. This offer gives the customers chance for getting lucky thrice on purchase of any of the models of the electric scooter. The gifts include cash cards worth Rs.4,000, free extended warranty on battery for one year and can also save up to Rs.29,890 over a period of two years.
