The controversial nuclear programme of Iran has attracted calls for fresh sanctions from British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who was specifically aiming at investments in Tehran's liquefied natural gas. The British PM announced that in the coming weeks, more measures and sanctions will be slapped on Iran to include its investment on liquefied natural gas.
Adding, Brown said that perhaps it was signal enough for the Iranian regime that what it is doing is not acceptable. Iran infact happened to be the key issues for deliberation when the British PM, Gordon Brown met US President George W Bush in Washington recently. PM Brown further said that because Iran was breaching the Non-Proliferation Treaty, sanctions will levied on it where deemed necessary.
It was pointed out that Iran has not divulged the truth about what its plans were to the International community. The British PM Gordon Brown said his country and the US will work with Russia and China to ensure that Iran understands that it cannot ignore the international community and its obligations.
