According to a security firm, a major Botnet malware is attacking the social networking sites. As per the reports, the new malware has affected 4% of the total spam load till now.
The spam comes interestingly promoting a ‘work at home’ programme. The users are wooed with a handsome earning of up to $300 per day by posting information online.
Symantec malware analyst Mat Nisbet said, "The apparent aim of these e-mails is to get people to fall for 'get rich by working at home' schemes where the victim is encouraged to pay an initial fee for a trial and then sit back and watch the cash come in."
When users click on the link, they are redirected to a Twitter page, which asks for paying the ‘trial fee’ for the said programme. Then the hacker controls the Twitter accounts by loading the Botnet malware on it. Even, some Facebook pages are being used to send the spams.
Now-a-days, social networking sites have become an ideal platform to spread spams and affect the new users. So it is advised to check the link before clicking on that.
