A suicide bomber slammed a car loaded with explosives into the gates of the Indian embassy at Kabul in Afghanistan on Monday, July 7. Officials inform that 41 people were killed in this incident, whereas over 140 got injured and this toll includes both civilians as well as security forces. The bombing took place as people were queuing for visa at the embassy. Among those killed includes a high-ranked Indian diplomat, Defence attache Brig R Mehta as well as two Indian security guards.
This attack on the Indian embassy in Kabul is among the deadliest ones in recent times, but none has come forward to lay claim on the attack. The Talebans, on the other hand, have pledged to step up their attacks on Kabul. Condemning this attack, Hamid Karzai, the President of Afghanistan said that it is aimed to disrupt the country’s good relationship with India. He said that it is a ‘cowardly terrorists' attack.’ This attack on the Indian embassy was also criticized by the United States and European Union.
