Probodh Mukherjee, associated with the making of super hit Hindi movies like Junglee, died of a cardiac failure on Saturday 3 May. He was 88 years-old. His son Vasu informed that the funeral was convened at the Santa Cruz crematorium in northwest Mumbai on Sunday 4 May. Within just a month’s time, two senior members of the Hindi filmdom’s well-known Mukherjee passed away. The first was Probodh’s nephew, producer-director Shomu Mukherjee who expired recently on 10 April.

Shomu Mukherjee was the father of Kajol and Tanuja’s husband. Probodh Mukherjee, who was admitted at the Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai, once happened to be the financial controller of the Filmalaya Studios in the early days. It was Probodh’s eldest brother Sashadhar Mukherjee, who had set up the Filmalaya Studios. Along with brother Subodh Mukherjee, Probodh had produced some all time favorite Hindi films like Junglee, Hema Malini-starrer Abhinetri and Sharmeelee.
