Germany based BMW group is now looking at the Indian market for sourcing of automotive components, IT software to develop its future technologies and engineering services. Herbert Diess, BMW board member revealed to the press on Friday that India is an important market for the BMW group and they very well recognize its engineering talent. He further revealed that they already source some components for bikes and auto parts for some of their cars and bikes from India.
Herbert Diess suggested that considering the increasing capability of the Indian vendors to provide quality spares, the BMW group plans to source more parts and services from the country. The Germany based BMW group also intends to source critical engine parts and chassis for its high end two wheelers in the future. The luxury cars manufacturing group is currently negotiating with half a dozen Indian automotive component makers for sourcing car parts and plans to increase the number of suppliers for its motorcycle business.
