Delhi High Court after nine years is likely to decide BMW hit-and-run case today. Earlier, on August 26, Additional Sessions Judge Vinod Kumar had reserved his verdict for today. The case involves killing of six persons, including three cops in the year 1999. There has been many turns and twists in the infamous case in last nine years, including the breach of professional ethics by lawyers involved in the case.

Today's decision by Delhi HC will determine fate of the prime accused Sanjeev Nanda, who was involved in BMW hit-and-run incident. The case came in media eyes primarily because of his being son of arms dealer Suresh Nanda and grandson of ex-Naval chief S M Nanda. He along with co-accused Manik Kapoor has been tried under the IPC Sec. 304 part-I.

Evidently, IPC Sec. 304 part-I is applicable in cases of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. In case he is convicted under this section he can be sentenced to imprisonment of ten years. Also, there would be decision under IPC Sec. 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) on businessman Rajeev Gupta and his two employees -- Bhola Nath and Shyam Singh.
