World's leading car manufacturer BMW is all geared up to introduce its new hybrid car BMW 750i Active-Hybrid in the Paris Auto Show 2008. The new BMW car is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 petrol engine that produces 407 hp with peak torque of 600 Nm or 442 lb-ft. Just like the Mercedes-Benz S400 BlueHybrid, the BMW hybrid car incorporates mild hybrid system. The 7-Series Active-Hybrid also has an electric motor which generates maximum output of 15 kW/20 hp. BMW's first hybrid production Active-Hybrid is reported to enter the market in 2009.
The car is believed to get the electric power from BMW’s latest variant of Brake Energy Regeneration. The high-performance lithium-ion battery of the car then stores the energy that is generated. Besides these, the Active-Hybrid also incorporates auto-start-stop function that prevents the combustion engine from running in the idle mode. The engine of the new hybrid car is placed at the luggage compartment. The new BMW 750i Active-Hybrid will give tough challenge to other hybrid cars including the Mercedes-Benz S400 BlueHybrid in the forth-coming Paris Auto Show.
