The Blue Dart Express, transportation and logistics major, is contemplating extending its connectivity to foreign locales like Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Its Managing Director Anil Khanna also informed that the company is also thinking about an increase in its fees by about 15 per cent this year. The Blue Dart Express, at the moment, does not have any exclusive connectivity with any foreign nation.
Mr Khanna informed that the road links are being studied currently in order to extend Blue Dart’s connectivity to Pakistan, whereas the air connectivity is being examined for Sri Lanka. The Blue Dart Express has recently also announced a new India-Bangladesh trade lane. ‘There are barriers at the border route with Pakistan, but going forward we expect them to be removed, Mr Khanna said.
Speaking about the newly introduced trade lane to Bangladesh, Mr Khanna said that a new storehouse was opened up at Kolkata which would act as a hub for shipments to and from Bangladesh. As per Amod Dasgupta, Vice-President-East for Blue Dart Company, the trade lane between India and Bangladesh was launched in alliance with DHL, the parent company. The Blue Dart Express moved 1.9 lakh tonnes of consignments in 2007.
