BlackBerry maker RIM has finally announced the launch of its brand new Torch (9800) handset on American carrier AT&T's website.

The Torch is the first phone to run on the next-generation Blackberry OS 6. It sports a 3-inch touch-screen display along with features like a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 5MP camera with an LED flash and 802.11n support.

The Torch, however would be without some key features like DivX/XviD video compatibility, ‘Surepress’ click-screen technology and 720p recording that are mostly found in many high-end phones like iPhone 4, Motorola Droid 2 and the Nokia N8.

Though, the fans will be sure to have some new features like a webkit based browser, additional 512MB of RAM and an optical trackpad. The Torch is also the first BlackBerry set to have the trackpad with a touchscreen. So, the handset could be operated without touching the screen at all.
