The proposed Prime Ministerial candidate and Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader L.K. Advani on Monday (November 17) announced that BJP would create a separate Telangana state in Andhra Pradesh, if voted to power in 2009 Lok Sabha elections.
While addressing an election rally in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, Advani said that BJP translates all its promises into action. The leader cited the creation of state of Chhattisgarh as an instance. Chhattisgarh was earlier a part of Madhya Pradesh and gained statehood on November 1, 2000, when BJP was in power at the centre.
Of the total 90 seats, 51 would go to polls in the last phase on November 20. The 39 seats, mostly in Maoist-affected areas of the state, went to polls on November 14. Advani said that the BJP government must be voted to power in Chhattisgarh to continue the ongoing progress in the state.
