The ruling party of Orissa, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is expected to register a landside victory as early results for assembly elections in the state show that the party is way ahead of its rivals, BJP and Congress. As per official reports, BJD has so far bagged two assembly seats and BJP has managed one. According to early trends, BJD candidates were leading in 101 assembly constituencies while Congress and the BJP were ahead in 30 and 10 respectively.
Apart from assembly seats, BJD is also leading in Lok Sabha seats. As per trends, the party was leading in 14 Lok Sabha constituencies while Congress was ahead in six seats the Communist Party of India in one seat. Meanwhile, BJP has been unable to take a lead in any of the Lok Sabha seats in the state of Orissa.
According to political analysts, if the trends continue in the same manner then BJD will win the assembly election and form the government in the state on its own strength. Lok Sabha and assembly elections in Orissa were held in two phases in April.
