The Bihar government looks determined to spruce up educational infrastructure in the state. After the plan to set up an international university at Nalanda got clearly recently, one now hears that the state government has given a go-ahead to the proposed Aryabhatt Knowledge University at Patna too.
It was announced by the Bihar Human Resource Development Minister Hari Narayan Singh on Wednesday, July 30 that the state assembly has passed the Aryabhatt Knowledge University Bill 2008 for setting up the university. The work for building this university is going to start soon.
The minister pronounced that this new varsity at Patna is being set up to regulate and enhance the value of institutions offering education on Information Technology, Nano-technology and Bio-technology. The government as well as the private technical institutes in Bihar will be affiliated to this proposed Aryabhatt Knowledge University. The new university at Patna will also serve as a regulatory body for maintaining standards in these institutes. Even the medical colleges in Bihar will be brought under the jurisdiction of this university.
