Congress chose Bhupinder Singh Hooda to lead Haryana for the second time. The announcement was made by the Congress early on Sunday morning.
Sources in Congress say that Congress President Sonia Gandhi had been holding discussions before rewarding the Congress Legislature Party leader with the lead post.
Bhupinder Singh Hooda had been the caretaker Chief Minister and had been leading the race. The other person who had been speculated to be in the race for Chief Minister post included Congress MP from Ambala and Union Minister for Tourism Kumari Selja.
Congress had put forward the claim for the post before the Governor, Jagannath Pahadia, after garnering the support of the 7 independent candidates.
