The Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) of India has announced that it has bagged a contract from a Vietnamese firm worth Rs 200 Crore for its Hydro Power Project. It is the state-owned Nam Chien Hydropower Joint Stock Company of Vietnam which has placed the order.

 

BHEL has been put in charge of the design, engineering, manufacture, supply and overseeing of fixing up and commissioning of the total Electro-mechanical equipment package for the hydro power project comprising two Pelton type hydro generating units of 100 MW each.
 

Transformers, controls, monitoring and protection system, hydro turbines, generators and switchgear are the key equipment that will be needed in this project. It is 350 kilometres north of Hanoi at Muong La where this project is sited. It is scheduled to get ready by the conclusion of 2010.
