Finally, Apple iPhone is in Indian market in collaboration with two major telecom operators Bharti, and Vodafone. The 3G phone is considered a great computer or mobile internet device, but has been launched in the country where 3G networks are still not operative. Also, customers have to pay hefty Rs 36,100 for the 16GB and Rs 31,000 for the 8GB model.
The 3G iPhone has plastic rear panel and metal external buttons. The availability of the ‘flush’ port allows use of any standard 3.5 mm earpiece one wishes. The phone's music and movies feature is well for those who are familiar with the iPod-iTunes system. Handset's reviews show that its internet browser 'Safari' is the best web browser than any browser on any mobile device.
However, according to market experts, the prices of handset is spoiler for iPhone. Unlike AT&T, Indian telecom partners of iPhone Vodafone, and Bharti have not decided to subsidize that handset, and with its current prices the iPhone is destined to become a luxury product rather than a mass appeal phenomenon; now, both the companies have to think on the strategy to make it popular.
