According to an official release, Airtel subscribers will be able to purchase the iPhone at Airtel's Relationship Centres from August 22. The handset has been quite popular in USA and will touch India soon through an agreement with Bharti Airtel. Apple’s iPhone is a touch screen handset.
Sanjay Kapoor, President, Bharti Airtel mobile services, said that iPhone has been an iconic technological revelation of this year and Airtel has been at the forefront of innovation and customer delight in the Indian telecom sector. Factually, iPhone has 3G features and is faster than existing mobile phones.
On the other hand, according to media reports Vodafone too will launch the 3G iPhone on 18th of August. Bharti’s iPhone will have in-built GPS system, which facilitates as navigation and positioning tool. However, the company has not disclosed the price of handset.
Recent trends have been showing a huge potential for multi-feature handsets, and looking on to that; leading cell phone makers like Nokia, Motorola and Samsung have entered in to R&D to bring feature rich phones in India to compete iPhones.
