Telecom major Bharti Airtel's stock has been under pressure after news spread that the company's CEO Manoj Kohli has sold part of his stock holding in the open market. Mr Kohli sold about 1.23 lakh shares in the company on March 6 and 9. Responding to the media queries he said that, he had sold his personal stake for personal reasons. However he added that, he would continue to hold stocks in the company in the form of 90,000 vested shares and over 87,000 stock options.
 
Kohli also denied the media speculation of quitting the present company, Bharati. He termed these speculations as completely wrong and false. He further clarified that, he was completely committed to Bharti. The journey with Bharti Airtel for so many years has been very gratifying and it would continue for many more years to come, he said.
 
Kohli was appointed CEO of the company on March 20, 2007. Earlier, in March 2006, he was appointed President of Bharti Airtel. As a President he headed the integrated business units of mobile services, broadband and telephone services and enterprise services.
