A two per cent stake in the SMC Group companies, SMC Global Securities Ltd & SAM Global Securities Ltd, has been purchased by the Bennett Coleman & Company Limited (BCCL). Brokerage, merchant banking, arbitrage and wealth management are some of the service provided by the SMC Group. The SMC Group of companies also deals in the distribution of retail products such as insurance, IPO & mutual funds apart from also proffering advisory services to HNIs & corporates. This SMC Group features amongst the most prominent retail investor networks in India, catering to more than 450,000 investors.

 

SMC is a trading member of NSE, BSE, NCDEX and MCX. For the past two years now, this Group has been holding the trading & clearing membership of Dubai Gold and Commodity Exchange (DGCX). The SMC Group commands over three per cent of the total equities and derivatives market, more than four per cent in the Indian commodities market as well as over 10 per cent in Dubai gold and commodities exchange. Subhash Chand Aggarwal of the SMC Group remarked that this connection with the Bennett Coleman & Company Limited will assist them in strengthening their brand and reach out to more consumers.
