Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) appointed Commissioner Sudhir Nanavati has been asked by the board to probe the incident involving IPL players Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth in a slapping row after the match between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab. The Commissioner has hence summoned both the players who are expected to meet Mr. Nanavati either on Friday or Saturday.
Indian Premier League (IPL) Match Referee Farokh Engineer has already pronounced his verdict over the slapping row, by suspending Harbhajan Singh from playing in eleven IPL matches. The inquiry by the BCCI is however different from the verdict given by Farokh Engineer. Mr. Nanavati remarked that Farokh Engineer had conducted the inquiry under IPL rules while the BCCI will conduct the inquiry in accordance with its rules. The BCCI Commissioner is expected to submit his report by May 12 to the BCCI Disciplinary Committee.
