US President Barack Obama, who was addressing a national gay rights group on Sunday, mentioned that he has plans for recruiting gays in the US military to put an end to those who have problems with homosexual orientation.
Obama, who was addressing the annual meet of the Human Rights Campaign mentioned that "I will end, 'Don't ask, don't tell'," as the policy in force since 1993 is known.
But he has not mentioned any deadline for implementing his proposal.
Obama mentioned that US has restrictions for sacking skilled people from military, which currently is done under “Don't ask, don't tell" policy.
He told gay-rights campaigners in a 25-minute address that his commitment to their cause is "unwavering". The people, who were part of the campaign, had voiced concerns regarding the lack of solution on any of the gay rights issues since he assumed charge.
"Do not doubt the direction we are headed and the destination we will reach," Obama said. "We have made progress, and we will make more."
