The US President Barack Obama will be hosting the first state dinner for Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on November 24.
Obama, who is impressed with Manmohan Singh after he steered India to a major economic power from a developing country, has extended his invitation to the Prime Minister for the first state visit of his administration.
Manmohan Singh had also been the first state guest of the second term of the Bush administration. He will also be state guest at the Blair House also.
Sources have claimed that this is a sign of India’s growth as world power as well US accepting India as a close and stable collaborator.
The US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had conducted an inter-agency meeting for reviewing the visit of Manmohan Singh. Obama, who had met Singh on the margins of G20 Summit in Pittsburgh, had expressed that he is waiting for Manmohan Singh’s visit to the White House.
Hilary Clinton, during her visit to India in July, had extended the formal invitation to Indian Prime Minster.
