India's neighbouring country Bangladesh has decided to expand regional cooperation to combat the menace of terrorism. Democracy has been resorted in the country after two years of emergency rule when 25 new leaders of the Sheikh Hasina-led government took their charges. While informing about the regional cooperation, Bangladesh's new foreign minister, Dipu Moni said that new government has decided to set up an effective regional body to fight terrorism in the region in addition to giving full cooperation to the neighboring countries to tackle terrorism.

The foreign minister of Bangladesh further said that since terrorism knows no geographical boundaries it is very imperative that all the neighbouring nations should stand together to curb it. Dipu Moni also said that her country is very concerned about the ongoing terrorist activities and wanted to establish peace and stability in the entire region. Dipu Moni is the first woman to hold the foreign minister's post in the Muslim-majority nation.

After becoming the PM of Bangladesh for the second time, Sheikh Hasina has allocated the key portfolios to two women leaders. While Dipu Moni holds the office of foreign minister, another new member, Sahara Khatun was assigned the home affairs portfolio. The first time MP, Moni is also the personal physician of prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

The Awami League's leader Sheikh Hasina was sworn in as the prime minister of the nation on January 7, after her party clinched absolute majority in the recently held parliamentary election. As the head of the government, Hasina allocated portfolios to 31 council of ministers including five women members.

Out of the 31 ministers as many as 25 are new comers. Motia Choudhry has retained the agriculture ministry, which she held in Hasina's previous administration. Dipu Moni who got the foreign ministry is the daughter of former activist Mohammad Abdul Wadud, who was close to the country's founder and Hasina's father Sheikh Mujibur Rehman.
