India's neighbouring country, Bangladesh has decided to lodge a compliant with India about three Indian oil and gas survey ships that allegedly crossed into its maritime boundary. Bangladesh said that the ships have been working inside its territory for sometime despite being told to leave. According to a press release issued by the Bangladesh foreign ministry, Dhaka will ask Indian authority not to undertake any exploratory work in the Bay of Bengal until the maritime border issue is solved through mutual agreement.

Indian oil and gas survey ships allegedly entered seven nautical miles into the territorial waters of Bangladesh under Deep Sea Block-14 and continued operations. This is first time that any Indian vessel has entered the maritime economic zones of Bangladesh. However, the Indian side made counter claims that Khaled Bin Walid, Bangladesh's navy frigate had also entered 60 miles inside Indian waters.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh has withdrawn Khaled Bin Walid and deployed a smaller naval ship to keep watch until the Indian survey ships leave the disputed waters. Two months ago, Bangladesh had entered into similar row with Myanmar when naval ships confronted each other for three days. The water dispute between India and Bangladesh however did not ended up into a big deal as there were no Indian warships visible.
