Renault Nissan Automotive India a 50:50 JV to make 4,00,000 cars and powertrains in Chennai, according to Bajaj Auto MD Rajiv Bajaj will be limited to ultra low-cost car project. He showed his disinterest on partnering for the mainstream car business.

Mr Bajaj said that Bajaj Auto is not interested in participating in the mainstream car market as it does not believe that it can bring sustainable value to bear upon an existing auto major. Citing this only reason he is not interested in expanding its partnership with Nissan-Renault beyond the ultra low-cost car project

However, there has been continuous denial from Renault’s side on the issue of any business talks on its Chennai project. Evidently, Renault is setting up a manufacturing plant in Chennai, and is looking for a partner. The business talk process is going on with M&M.
