Leading two-wheeler manufacturing company, Bajaj Auto has announced to launch six new bikes in 2009. The company will launch its new product 135 cc XCD on January 21. The new bike is priced at Rs 45,000. After that, in the months of April and July, the company will unveil two more bikes having 125-135 cc engine size. In addition to these, three premium models (150 cc and above) will also be launched in the later half of 2009.
Taking to media, Bajaj Auto managing director Rajiv Bajaj said that the company is focused on manufacturing motorcycles in the 125 cc and above engine size, which has 35 percent share in the domestic two-wheeler market. He added that Baja Auto aims to attain the title of premium motorcycle specialist. Currently the company owns 50 percent of the market for 125 cc and above engine size. Rajiv Bajaj mentioned about the DTSi engine technology which he suppose will a play a major role in moving forward the company's strategy.
According to Rajiv Bajaj, XCD 135 cc DTSi will have a number of features than those in the existing Pulsar bike. Some of the features include a 5-speed gearbox, a 10.5 hp output, 65/70 km per litre mileage, a digital cockpit, nitrox rear suspension, low-friction front suspension, twin pilot headlamps and LED tail lamps. The bike will be produced at Pantnagar and will be rolled out from Bajaj’s Waluj plant.
