Bajaj Auto has reported a net profit of Rs.402.83 crore for the Q2 of 2009-10 fiscal year.

Bajaj Auto, the Indian two-wheeler major, has reported a surge of 117.85% in its net profit for the Q2 of 2009-10 fiscal year which ended on Sep 30. It has reported net profit of Rs.402.83 crore whereas the net profit for the Q2 of 2008-09 fiscal was Rs.184.91 crore.
 
The company's total income grew 14.47% to Rs.290.92 crore in the period under review as compared to Rs.254.13 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
 
"The profit earned for the quarter exceeded the profits earned during the first half of 2008-09," the company said in a regulatory statement.
 
New product launches have helped Bajaj Auto log a record turnover and it plans to continue with more in the future.
 
"The strategy of the company to focus on the more profitable category of 'bigger and sportier' motorcycles has paid dividends and the results are reflected in the operating margins," the statement added.
