Life in Rajasthan came to a standstill following two weeks of solid protests by the resident Gujjar Community demanding ST status from the government. But on Thursday 5 June, there showed up a sliver of hope after the Gujjar community leader Kirori Singh Bainsla remarked that he was ready to dispatch a delegation from his side to deliberate with the Rajasthan government. But Bainsla also underscored that he will not participate in any parleys at the moment.

These comments from the Gujjar leader is being seen as a softening of stance after the clash between the protesting Gujjar community and the government resulted in the death of about 40 people. It was however a fresh proposal from the Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje to engage in dialogue that invited such a response from KS Bainsla. Bainsla told his supporters in Pilupura that they can send their delegates to hold talks with the government, whereas the rest would continue with the agitation.

KS Bainsla also had a rider for the Rajasthan government. He underscored that talks will be possible only if they permitted the national Gujjar leaders to come to Pilupara on Friday 6 June. He explained that he deemed it vital to consult them before sending a delegation to the government. It is not definite if the talks will happen on Friday, but the Rajasthan CM does hope to capitalize on this chance in order to solve the crisis as soon as possible.
