The speculation about the area from which Mohammad Azharuddin, the former Indian cricket captain, will contest the upcoming elections continues to be rife. As per the latest reports, it is believed that the former skipper might be fielded from Meerut or Moradabad by Congress, the party he joined recently. As per UPCC president Rita Bahuguna Joshi, UPCC has identified Meerut and Moradabad as the two potential seats for Azharuddin.
While there has been no confirmation on the exact seat for Azharuddin, it is sure that he would be sharing the stage with Congress leaders in Meerut, on March 23, in an election meeting. Ms Joshi also claimed that the former Indian cricket captain wants to enter the poll race from anywhere in Uttar Pradesh or Rajasthan. He would be used as a secular face in the election campaign of the party. Apart from Azharuddin, comedian Raju Srivastava, Bhojpuri film actor Ravi Kishan and Bollywood actress Nagma have expressed their desire to contest the polls, along with several retired IAS and IPS officers.
