The former captain of the Indian cricket team, Mohammed Azharuddin suffered minor injuries after his car was hit by a speeding ST bus in Mumbai on Sunday, 13 April. He was on his way to watch a cricket match with his children when this incident took place at the Belapur end of Palm Beach Road. Azhar and his kids along with the driver Amarnath Algupal (45) were rushed to MGM Hospital in Belapur, where they were released after first-aid.
Police stated that the car’s air-bags ballooned on impact and that saved the occupants from more harm. The speeding ST bus had a few passengers aboard and was on its way to Uran. The bus spun out of control after hitting the car and as a result, trampled a traffic signal at the junction. But the bus driver, along with its passengers, remain unhurt. Though no one has been arrested so far, an FIR was registered against bus driver Vishwas Laxman Jadhav at the CBD police station for rash and negligent driving.
