With just days left for the much-talked climate change summit in Copenhagen, Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd will be meeting US President Barack Obama in Washington next week.
Rudd will visit Washington after attending the Commonwealth Heads of Government summit in Trinidad this weekend.
"I've been invited by the President of the United States to meet with him in Washington next Monday”, said Rudd to the Parliament.
He said that the discussions will focus on climate change related issues, while adding that the meeting reflected a positive step in the fight against climate change.
"I would have thought it was a good thing for the Australian-US relationship," Rudd said, adding "I would have thought this was a good thing for our combined action on climate change."
