Drew Ginn and Duncan Free of Australia won gold medal in the Rowing Men's Pair by finishing in a time of 6:37.44min. Canadian Scott Frandsen and David Calder grabbed silver with a time of 6:39.55min, while Nathan Twaddle and George Bridgewater of New Zealand won bronze medal after finishing in 6:44.19min. Initially the Canadians began quickly and were first through the halfway point, however, they fell behind Australians at the 1500m mark.
 
The Australians got the lead through the final sprint and concluded the race two seconds earlier than Canada. Tom Lehmann and Felix Drahotta of Germany placed fourth with a finishing time of 6:47.40min, while Shaun Keeling and Ramon di Clemente of South Africa finished fifth in a time of 6:47.83min. The defending champions of the United States, Tyler Winklevoss and Cameron Winklevoss came in sixth in a time of 7:05.58min.
