Hyderabad-based drug maker Aurobindo Pharmaceuticals has got an approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) for Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate tablets, 300 mg. The drug major said in a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange that it has received the temporary approval for Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate tablets, 300 mg.
 
Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate tablet, 300 mg is a generic type medicine and is equivalent of Gilead Science Inc's Viread Tablets 300 mg.  Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate tablet, 300 mg falls under the anti-retroviral segment. It is indicated in combination with other anti-retroviral for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults. Aurobindo Pharmaceuticals has obtained a license from Gilead Inc. to market Tenofovir products in 95 developing and least developed countries.
 
The filing with the BSE further says that, Aurobindo now has a total of 91 abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) approvals from USFDA. Out of these 91, Sixty-six are final and 25 are tentative.
