The ultra-thin laptops of Asus, which are scheduled to be launched on Sep 7, comes equipped with Intel's upcoming 45nm CPUs. According to a report from DigiTimes, the new ultra-thin laptops from Asus will be launched in China, Europe and Taiwan.
Intel's two microprocessors, Intel Celeron 743 and Intel SU2300 processors, come at a cost of $107 (Rs. 5,150 approx.) and $134 (Rs. 6,450 approx.) respectively.
These new Intel microprocessors are meant for the entry level market. Asustek president Jerry Shen had mentioned that the ultra-thin laptops will from 10-20% of the net shipment of Asus in the Q3 of 2009 fiscal.
MSI and Acer, who are the close competitors of Asus, will also be launching new ultra-thin notebooks very soon. Probably, MSI would bring more X-Slim ultra-thin laptop models.
The ultra-thin notebooks will so become the new segment between the netbooks and entry level but thick-heavy laptops.
