The coming week will see Pakistan's president-elect Asif Ali Zardari visiting China to negotiate a nuclear deal like the one being worked out between US and India, an official has revealed. On conditions of anonymity, the official added that Pakistan has already apprised China of its plans about the nuke deal for meeting energy needs. But the talks will begin once Zardari reaches China.

Asif Ali Zardari was elected president of Pakistan on Saturday, September 7, 2008 and will be sworn on Tuesday. But he has already declared that his first foreign visit will be to China. It was further reported that China will supply nuclear material to Pakistan to meet its energy crisis under the proposed deal. The official said that this deal has nothing to do with Indo-US nuke deal.

It is for many years now that Pakistan has failed to meet its hiking energy requirements and the conditions seems to have deteriorated since 2007.  Asif Ali Zardari's visit will coincide with the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games on September 17 being held in China.
