Michael Gargiulo, an A/C repairman, has been found linked to the stabbing deaths of three women through DNA evidence. Gargiulo, 32, of Santa Monica is in police custody since July due to a separate knife attack and could soon be charged of murder, as told by the police. Santa Monica police Lt. Darrell Lowe told that DNA taken from the last crime scene helped in tracing out Gargiulo's link to the stabbing deaths of women from Los Angeles, suburban Chicago and Monterey Park.
The cases also include the case of 22-year-old Ashley Ellerin, Kutcher's ex- girlfriend, who was found dead in her Hollywood Hills home in February 2001. Besides, the fatal murder of a woman at Monterey Park in 2005 and the killing of a high school girl of Glenview in 1993 are also linked with Garguilo. Lowe further said that blood samples taken from the crime scenes matched with Garguilo's; thus, providing enough genetic evidence.
Anthony Salerno, Gargiulo's attorney, denied the involvement in any of the attacks and further said that why police have taken so long to charge Gargiulo. In the meanwhile, Los Angeles police are using DNA evidence to trace another alleged serial killer in Southern California.
