The father of fourteen year old Arushi Talwar, Mr. Rajesh Talwar has been arrested for the murder of his daughter and servant Hemraj. The dentist was arrested on Friday afternoon for the brutal murder of his daughter and domestic help on May 15, 2008. Though there are different versions of the story, probably the mother of Arushi, Mrs. Nupur Talwar and another doctor acquaintance of Mr. Talwar, Dr. Anita Duranni have been arrested for questioning by the police.
Dr. Talwar was arrested after intensive question session by the Noida Police, during which he admitted that he had killed his daughter and servant. According to some sources, Arushi’s father and Dr. Anita Duranni were having an affair, about which Arushi got to know 4 - 5 months back. Arushi was known to have confronted with her father about the same and this had severely strained the relation between the father and daughter.
Arushi’s murder was perhaps not a planned one; it was anger which led to the murder. The murder weapon has also been recovered from Hardwar. According to sources, Arushi’s head was first banged by her father against the wall and later he cut her vocal cord and jugular veins. The servant was murdered as he too was aware about the murder and had even witnessed the brutal crime being committed by Dr. Talwar. Hemraj was murdered after intoxicating him with liquor mixed with sedatives and then his veins were also cut. The Noida Police has remarked that the intention of the killer was to kill only one person, the other person was killed just because he or she had witnessed the crime.
