Apple has released a software update to fix a problem with its MacBook Pro line of portable computers that have the 7200rpm 500GB hard drive. The update was released on Aug 19, Wednesday.
The users had complained of random noises from hard drive following which it will freeze. The issue got automatically resolved after 10 seconds and did not require a restart or forced quit.
According to Apple the hard drives shipped with the June 2009 MacBook Pro have this problem.
The software download from Apple's Web site is a firmware updater. Instructions for updating the software have also been provided in the website.
MacBook Pro Hard Drive Firmware Update 2.0 is available from Apple's support Web site or via the software update mechanism in Mac OS X.
