Apple plans to manufacture up to 5 lakh 11.6 inch MacBook Air laptops with the help of the leading laptop manufacturer Quanta.
As per the reports, the new laptops will be the redesigned MacBook units with a glossy look. The sets will sport LED Backlit screen and will look ultra-thin because of smaller in size. The new ones will measure 11.6 inches as compared to the existing 13.3 inch MacBook Air. A lighter version of the casing is also in the way, said an official.
The MacBook Air is expected to be available in December.
It is said that the lighter MacBook Air is targeted at the corporate users. The popularity of iPad and iPhone 4 is also another reason to go for the change.
Quanta is supposed to release about 13.2 million notebooks in the third quarter. However, it had sold more laptops in the second quarter.
