According to Apple, it has sold over 300,000 iPads on its launch day on Saturday.

According to the company, the total sales include the units pre-ordered online and the ones which were bought directly from retail stores.

Apple has also said that it’s in tally with the company estimates.

But an analyst had said that it was just half of the widely quoted sales figure of 600,000 to 700,000 units.

It is also reported that there was hardly any queue for the iPads at the retail stores in the US as there was an ample supply for the product.

Apple is confident of getting wide support from this ‘smart device’ that is a bridge between smartphones and laptops.

"It feels great to have the iPad launched into the world - it's going to be a game changer," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO.

"iPad users, on average, downloaded more than three apps and close to one book within hours of unpacking their new iPad," he added.
