Ratan Jalan, the CEO of the Apollo Health and Lifestyle Limited (AHLL), was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police on Tuesday, August 13 on charge of cheating, but was later released on bail by a city court. The case against Ratan Jalan was booked following a complaint filed by the promoter of Rex Healthcare India Pvt Ltd relating to the construction of a clinic at Aligarh in UP.
The Hyderabad police stated a court in Aligarh had issued a non-bailable warrant against Jalan on charges of criminal breach of trust and cheating. He was, however, granted bail by the court of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate. A statement issued by the Apollo Hospitals, read, ‘This vindicates our stance that a civil case has been converted into a criminal case with malafide intentions by the complainant.’ It also underscored that there was no cheating in this instance.
