There is good news for AOL mail and messenger users in India. AOL has announced that its mail and messenger users in India can now sent free messages and SMS to mobile phones through the network of AOL. The receiver will be able to reply back to these messages via AOL network.
 
PG Ponnapa, VP and GM, India Portal, AOL, said that since the mobile market is growing at a faster rate than the internet market, these new services will help in convergence of telecom and internet. Most of the leading telecom networks like Airtel, Vodafone and MTNL support AOL services. AOL services in India are quite new.
 
AOL has also claimed that they are the first portal to start instant messaging services (AIM). AIM is one of the most popular instant messaging services which has more than 67 million users worldwide. According to an estimate more than 2 billion messages are sent everyday through AIM. AOL's other services include city guide, finance, games, jobs, horoscopes etc.
