Anupam Kher’s Hitler Dilemma!
Recently, Anupam Kher quit the movie ‘My Dear Friend Hitler’. Now, Kher has been requested to give his role a second thought, so Mr. about to be Hitler is now again in a dilemma.
The always light hearted and jovial Mr Kher is in a great perplexed state of mind. He got one of the most unique roles of his life in the form of ‘Hitler’, but the offer faded away in some time, due to the following fan pressure.
Last Thursday, the actor ultimately declined the offer and thought to just stay away from the controversies. But, these movie film-makers can’t really find another Anupam Kher, so they started to microscope the full story again.
Co-producer and script-writer Nalin Singh of Amrapali Media Vision Productions insists that the reports by the media are misleading in this regard. He said many reports from the international media are fake and they are responsible for Mr. Kher’s turn around.
He has requested the about to be Hitler to reconsider the role.
Nalin Singh adds further “Anupam has read the script and is aware that we are not glorifying the Nazi general. The hero of the film is Gandhi, whom Hitler had advised Lord Halifax to kill in 1938, along with other nationalist leaders, to stem the move for Independence.”
He clarifies the exact script of the movie and adds “He points out that it was typical of Gandhi to address the man who wanted him dead as “Dear Friend” in the two letters he wrote to him, requesting him to put an end to the war.”
“In the second letter, he insisted that he objected to Nazism as strongly as he objected to British imperialism and asked that enemies be converted, not defeated in battle. That was courageous of him, given that he could have used Hitler’s might to take on the British. But he showed the world, at the time of World War II, that you could do the same by following the path of peace and non-violence.”
Apparently, Nalin Singh is upset by the International media for spreading information without much research and adds “We’ve spoken to Anupam to re-think the project and are waiting for him to revert from the UK where he is currently shooting for Mausam.”
Now, the ball is in Anupam’s court and he has to decide.
