Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of American Vogue, has been awarded with an OBE. She has won the honor for her contribution to British journalism and fashion in America. The 59-year-old fashion legend has lent great support to designers like Alexander McQueen and John Galliano. She is also known for her support to British fashion in the States, through the exhibition called Anglomania, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (in New York). She was found saying that she considers it a great honor to receive the OBE.
Described as tough and uncompromising, Anna Wintour has always been appreciated in the fashion world. Adorning her trademark bob cut and radically dark sunglasses, she was seen on the front row of many fashion shows. However, it was only when she turned British Vogue into a huge success, before becoming the editor-in-chief of American Vogue, that her career reached its height. She is also the author of a best selling book, later made into a hit movie starring Meryl Streep.
