‘Friends’, the popular television soap on Star World has been said to be the base of Siddharth Anand’s upcoming release, ‘Anjaana-Anjaani’. A statement by the director is the reason for the controversy.

 

Siddharth said in a statement, “All I said was that you will fall in love with Keira (Priyanka Chopra) and Akaash (Ranbir Kapoor),in much the same way that you did with Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), Monica (Courtney Cox Arquette), Ross (David Schwimmer) and Joey (Matt LeBlanc) in Friends. You want to touch them, hang out with them, get to know them and be friends with them.”

 

Quite not baseless to say, that the movie is inspired from this television soap, as the director seems to have quite deeply studied the characters in the serial.

Well, the director here has a different story to narrate and he says that the inspiration for the movie came from his wife, Mamta, back in June 2009.

 

He adds, “Mamta, like me, was an assistant director. We met on the sets of Kunal Kohli’s Mujhse Dosti Karoge, and in true filmistyle, love blossomed and we got married. She is my best friend, a stylist who has designed costumes for Aamir Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, given me a story idea, written a story for herself and some day, will make a wonderful director.”

 

The movie will release soon and it is shot in the glamorous towns of Las Vegas and New York. Siddharth is even planning to take Priyanka in his next movie as personally he is a great fan of hers.
